Look for the Helpers!

We are truly blessed by a very generous and supportive family and community.  When I was little, I loved watching Mr. Rogers.  As I got older, one of his famous quotes has stuck with me.  He originally mentioned it when scary things happen, but I think it applies to most situations.  When you’re feeling overwhelmed or just don’t know where to start, pray and “look for the helpers” because God will always send helpers.  And send them, he did!

The journey of adoption can be beautiful, scary, overwhelming and one never quite knows what one’s community is thinking. I want you (future family) to know you have an amazing family and community who already loves you!

In May and June 2023, we asked our families and friends if anyone had any items, they would like to donate for an adoption garage sale fundraiser. And boy, were we blessed with many things!  Our 2.5 car garage was full (in fact emptied and filled again).  Not only did family volunteer to help us gather all the items and sort through everything, friend of friends also wanted to help!

The sale itself was 3-days (over 2 weekends due to wildfires impact on air quality and rain).  Family and friends (that are very much like family) showed up in so many ways.  Helping us set up at 6am, working the massive sale, sharing the fundraiser on social media, taking care of the pups inside, taking care of me, bringing tables, buying items, and pack everything away at night, to do it all again the next day.  I cannot thank the dozens of helpers enough!  They all showed up to support their family in hopes to one day meet their future nieces/nephews, grandbabies, cousins (so many loving cousins!).  The tears of joy and appreciation are flowing down my face.  To see the hard work and unconditional love for us was amazing!

In addition to the family that showed up, we had so many community members share their stories with us and come just to support the “adoption garage sale” that was now a thing being talked about in the community.  You have many friends in our community already!  Two little boys even brought their toys to donate.  My heart overflowed with joy so many times that day!

So, when the world seems crazy or overwhelming or lonely or maybe things are going really well, but you don’t know why…please know that God is good all the time, and all the time God is good, and he will send the helpers!  So, look for the helpers and realized how much you are loved!  Loved by God and the many people that surround us.  Sometimes it takes special moments of great emotion for us to see these things clearly, but they are always there if you look.

We are THANKFUL for (and BLESSED) by each and every one of you, our helpers, our big giant family! And we LOVE you!
